Volunteer at the Dream Center

WE NEED VOLUNTEERS:

The first Wednesday of the month from 9 a.m.-noon to pre-pack boxes, distribute food, and load cars.
The Wednesday before the third Saturday of the month at 4 p.m. to unload a food truck.
The Friday before the third Saturday of the month, pre-packing boxes and repacking bulk foods, 11 a.m.
The third Saturday of the month, food distribution, 7:30 a.m.-11:30 a.m.
The fourth Wednesday of the month from 4:30-7 p.m. to assist with our new food distribution time.

Volunteer FAQ's

Who can volunteer?

Anyone who wants to serve their community is welcome! Volunteers of all ages are encouraged to help. Minors can fill out the application and then have their parents sign it, or the parents can fill out the application and include their child’s name on it. Children under the age of 12 should be accompanied by an adult.

Do I need to sign up before volunteering?

Before your initial volunteering time, the answer is yes. First, you will have to create an account and fill out an application; then, once approved, you can download the My Impact app or log in on your computer to sign up for volunteer opportunities. Once you are in our database, you can simply show up to volunteer or sign up ahead of time. Go here to get started. MyImpactPage - Login and Application. Note that it’s best to fill out the initial application on a laptop or desktop rather than a phone.

What if I don't have a computer or a smartphone?

You can set up a time to come to our office to fill out the application for volunteering. We can help you walk through the process. If you do not have a smart phone and need to clock in and out, you can sign in on the iPad at the volunteer area in the warehouse to log in and out.

Do I need any experience?

No! We provide any training or instructions you'll need before you begin. When completing the volunteer application, you will read about our volunteer waiver, our Food Safety Training, and USDA Civil Rights training.

What should I wear?

Unless working in the front lobby as a greeter or registration, please dress for the weather since the warehouse is not climate-controlled.

What volunteer opportunities are available?

Volunteer opportunities include:

Truck unloading
Prepacking boxes
Handing out food
Parking lot attendants
Car loading/wagons
Working registration
Greeting
Office and paperwork

Can groups volunteer together?

Yes! Church groups, businesses, schools, clubs, and families are welcome. Please email us in advance if you are bringing a group. We will request that the leader of the group fills out a volunteer application, and then have their group read our liability waiver before volunteering. Upon arriving, the group leader will clock in on the app or iPad, and the rest of the group will sign in on the group sign-in sheet.

How long is a volunteer shift and when are they?

Most volunteer shifts last between 2 and 4 hours, depending on the activity. Volunteer opportunities are on distribution days and on days in preparation for distributions. All of the volunteer opportunities are on the events page and on MyImpact.

Can I volunteer for community service hours?

Yes! We are happy to verify court-approved (if applicable), school, or organization community service hours.

What if I need to cancel?

If you signed up for a volunteer position on My Impact or if you regularly come but aren't able to make it, then please email us at [email protected].
